Dad retired from ranching a couple of years ago and is the solid giver of advice when it comes to purchasing stock. He still owns a few on the farm that are quite special to him. When he's not home reading or watching baseball, he's out supporting his grandkids at their various activities. Mom lives in Grand Forks where she is receiving care at Edgewood Memory Care Unit.

Simmental

75% of our herd is made up of Purebred Simmental cows. Our original herd was purchased from Curtis Olafson in Edinburg and with a Angus herd of our own we finally found the Simmental to really stick out to us the most. Integrating into the Purebred herd came with it's challenges but we are very happy with the development of these cows and the progress we are making. The ladies flash the color Green in our herd!

Sires of our cows to include a few:

SpringCreek GrandSlam, KWA & LFE Riddler, CCR Cowboy Cut, Captain Morgan, Colorado Bridle Bit, Black Gold Witness, and SpringCreek McDavid.

Very excited to see our heifers out of TNT Youngblood and LFTZ Remedy grow in our herd along with our two new Striker Cows bought from Striker Cattle Company in Souris, Manitoba, Canada.

Throughout the years we have introduced Angus into our herd by breeding our purebred Simmental heifers to them through artificial insemination. If she doesn't stick to AI then she will then be with a heifer bull of the Simmental Breed. We have found great success in this program and giving our first time mothers a chance to have an easy first-time calf and also a calf that has exceptional growth.

Bulls used in our AI program include :

Baldridge Versatile, KCF Gavel, Circle L United, & Basin Payweight.

You'll always notice a SimAngus in our herd by their White tag!

F1 Baldy Bred Heifers

The past 3 years we have included F1-Baldy Bred Heifers into our program. We buy these heifers from Montana, South Dakota and North Dakota in the Spring then breed them to calve in the beginning of April to the middle of June.

We have found that customers who have bought them enjoy their mothering, calving size at birth and then growth in their calves come weaning.

Most of these heifers are bred by our homegrown bulls and continue to be a huge part of our program year after year.

Ask about the different colored tags come sale day!
